Itinerary Overview
  • Day 1
    Arrive Marrakech

Met at Marrakech Menara (RAK). Transfer to a riad in the medina. Briefing on the route. Equipment check — sleeping bag rating, walking poles, layers for the high passes (above 3,000m, daytime weather can turn quickly even in summer).

  • Day 2
    Marrakech to Aït Bouguemmaz

Drive to the Happy Valley (about 6 hours). Acclimatisation walk to a viewpoint over the upper valley (about 1 hour 30 minutes).

  • Day 3
    Tabant to Tarkkedit plateau

Walk up to the Tarkkedit plateau (around 2,900m, about 6 hours). Mule team carries the camp.

  • Day 4
    Cross Tizi n'Aït Imi pass

Long day (about 7 hours). Cross the Tizi n'Aït Imi pass (around 2,905m). Long traverse across high pasture on the far side.

  • Day 5
    Descent to a Tessaout-side village

Down day (about 4 hours) into a side valley of the upper Tessaout.

  • Day 6
    Upper Tessaout River day

Walking along the upper Tessaout River (about 5 hours) — high meadows, nomad encampments visible across the valley in summer.

  • Day 7
    Cross to the Magdaz side

The harder day (about 7 hours), crossing a high pass on the south side of the massif. Group walks roped at one short exposed scramble; the lead guide places fixed-line.

  • Day 8
    Descent to Magdaz

Walk down into the Tessaout Valley to Magdaz (about 5 hours). Extraordinary stone village architecture, almost no foreign visitors.

  • Day 9
    Magdaz village day

Easy walking through Magdaz (about 2–3 hours) — the stone houses, the granaries, the mosque. Lunch with the host family. Afternoon at rest.

  • Day 10
    Final descent toward Demnate

Walk down the lower Tessaout to the road head (about 4 hours). Drive to Marrakech via Demnate (about 4 hours). Late evening arrival.

  • Day 11
    Marrakech free day

Hammam, the souks, free time. Final dinner with the lead guide.

  • Day 12
    Until you leave Marrakech

A morning in your own hand — a last walk through the medina or a quiet morning at the riad, perhaps the hammam before checkout. The driver makes the airport transfer at a time chosen by the guests — to Marrakech Menara airport (RAK, about 30 minutes) for the international flight.
